Exhibiting in the Library
What a perfect opportunity to exhibit with other artists who have also explored the life of books in their practice Annelies Egli and Simon Gamble. The 120th anniversary of our local library comes at a time when it's purpose and very existence are again in question. Low footfall and looming cuts provoke many to ask the questions about the place of libraries, and indeed books, in our society. As a librarian myself, I hear every day from readers who are searching for the 'real physical copy' of the text they require, having spent most of their day staring at a screen. Many love to tell me about the gems they have found on the shelves or the ones they are hunting down. I hope this exhibition can go some way to making one little library a more dynamic place of exchanging ideas, unexpected interactions and creative stimuli, even if just for one month.
