Letting the paint go

 I'm learning there is a balance, in really good watercolour paintings (and I'm not there yet), between sometimes laying down the paint in the most precise, deliberate way possible, but with a gentle, confident touch and at other times releasing just the right amount of pigment and water so the paint does exactly what it wants to do. Where these incidental marks and textures sit quietly beside the most controlled of brush strokes, give me the most pleasure in painting, whether it be my own or enjoying someone else's.
